Fitness Tip #2: Keep it really simple

When trying to reach fitness goals for the first time its best to not overthink things, especially in the early going. On my own fitness journey, I’ve found that the approach that worked for me was to find a plan that can be done consistently over a long period of time which brings me to the fitness tip we will be discussing in this post, which is to “keep it really simple.” Take it from me, the best results I’ve ever received when reaching many of my goals in life was when I didn’t overcomplicate things and just kept is really simple.
So, let’s go over a list of some strategies that worked for me to “keep it really simple” when trying to reach fitness goals
List of Ways to Keep It Really Simple
1. Work on the Basics
I talk more about this in the Mastering the Fundamentals of Health fitness tip post. Simply put, working on the fundamentals of health when starting out can get amazing results plus build a solid foundation.
2. Work within a schedule
When first starting, it’s best not to get overworked trying to reach fitness goals because this can lead to getting burned out, constantly restarting, or quitting entirely. Small changes, such as, going to the gym 1-2 days a week for a couple of weeks and getting familiar with the machines is a great example of not overcomplicating things. Find a routine that can be consistently done over a long period of time.
3. Find easy ways to track progress
An easy way to track fitness progress is to keep old clothing from the start of trying to reach fitness goals. This is especially effective in weight loss goals in order to track progress. Plus, it doesn’t have to be monitored every day. As time goes on more tracking will need to be done but progress clothing is an amazing tracking tool to use.
4. Accept that it’s going to take time
When first starting out, motivation will be a massive driving force but there will be time when motivation fades. So, accepting that big changes take time and effort is a great thing to accept and keep in mind at all times.
Summary
Remember, this tip is extremely important to remember. There will come many times where the temptation to make drastic changes will come to mind in order to try to reach fitness goals quicker. It’s good to challenge oneself over time but don’t go too far. Try not to overcomplicate things and keep this lesson in mind. Make small changes in the right direction and they will add up over time.
