Fitness Tip #53: The 3 Stages of an Exercise Program

If I were to get started on my fitness journey again and had to create a workout routine. I would definitely keep the three stages of an exercise program in mind. So, for this Routinely Fit Post, I’m going to talk about the three stages of a good exercise program.
The Three Stages of an Exercise Program
- Warm-up
Warming up before working out is a perfect way to prepare the body for exercise. It also aids in being able to perform movements and lifts to the fullest.
A good warm-up should include some of the exercises that will be being performed during the workout but at a lower intensity. So, bodyweight movements are a great example. Also, dynamic stretching is a great option. Personally, I have noticed better results during my workouts when I had a good warm-up to start.
2. Workout
This is the part where the exercises for the workout routine are being performed. Make sure to be properly warmed up before doing this.
3. Cool-down
This one is frequently forgotten about but is very important to learn about and perform. The cool-down helps in reducing heart rate and helps the body relax. It’s a great way to tell the body it’s time to relax.
Summary:
When first starting to work out and create a workout routine, these three stages of an exercise program are very useful in preparing the body for working out, increasing performance, reducing injuries, and helping the body to unwind and recover after working out.
