Fitness Tip #29: Being Aware of Liquid Calories

A hidden challenge that can really affect reaching fitness goals is not being aware of or tracking liquid calories. Personally, I have had many challenges with drinking soda, juices, and other high calorie beverages that would affect my calorie count at the end of the day. So, in this post I would like to talk about some of the things to be aware of when drinking high calorie beverages and how the calories we take in from beverages can create challenges when reaching fitness goals.
5 things to be aware of when drinking liquid calories
- Number of Servings in the Drink
It can be very easy to see the label on the back and see that it reads 100 calories and think nothing much of it. BUT you may miss that it says there are 4 servings in the bottle. Little tracking mistakes like this can add up in a day.
2. Easy Consumption
liquid calories are very easy to consume, add up quicky, and are not very filling.
3. Limits solid food consumption
If fat loss or weight loss is the fitness goal. It can already be challenging to eat less food. Adding in too many calories from beverages can cause even more limits to the amount of food that can be eaten.
4. High Sugar
Some liquid calories can have lots of sugar. Which can spike blood sugar and affect reaching fitness goals.
5. Nutrition Content
Some liquid calories don’t have much nutritional value. In this case, you’d be better off choosing a more nutritional option.
